This is one of Tbilisi's many threatened or partly collapsed historic buildings - in its Avlabari district. The National Trust of Georgia's Singing Buildings series, intending to give voice to the growing threat to Georgia's surviving cultural heritage, as more old buildings are knocked down instead of repaired. The sounds are made by the building itself, with the help of the sound artist and performer, Martin Janicek, who builds musical instruments out of found objects. They are illustrated by site-specific sculptures created by Gail Sagman, and given life by the dancer Valaria Khripatch. With special thanks to Lali Pertonava, Maka Chkhaidze and Irine Gachechiladze.
